    My dogs never ran through the perimeter when they had the Invisible Fence brand collars on. Unfortunately the collars are lost, so I purchased the Perimeter collars. The batteries go dead within a week or two and two of my dogs run right across the wire barrier.

    I had an Invisible Fence perimeter wire installed 8 years ago. It encompasses 12 acres. Originally I used the Invisible Fence brand receivers that came of part of my installation. I have five dogs fitted with these collars. Over the years I have learned a few things about electronic dog fences. First, take the time to do the proper training. It takes more time and repetition with some dogs, but putting in the time up front is invaluable by saving time later and saving the dogs from potential tragedy. Second, some dogs test the fence much more than others and some dogs go through phases of testing the fence. This makes battery life unpredictable. I have never had a dog cross the fence that didn't have a dead battery in the collar. Because I couldn't know for sure how often each dog tested the fence (uses up the battery), I eventually scheduled battery changes every 60 days to avoid "dead battery excursions" beyond the fenceline. This was very effective, but became expensive. Eventually one of the Invisible Fence receivers reached its end of life. I was not happy to see how expensive the replacement collars were, so I researched alternatives. I came across this product from Perimeter Technologies and gave it a try. Not only did it work flawlessly with my fence (make sure you verify that you order the correct frequency), but it also ended up saving me money. Over time I have replaced all my Invisible Fence collars with this one. This collar has a battery indicator. Now I know when the battery is low. I am going through fewer batteries and the batteries are a little cheaper. I would happily recommend this collar over the competition's to a friend.

    I purchased this one because it was recommended by Perimeter when I called them regarding my particular dog. She walks right through the invisible fence now! I called them and they recommended tightening it. Did that.... no difference. My older dog stayed within the fence, but now I have a 2 year old pointer mix and it's just not working. I haven't given up yet, but I'm really out of ideas and afraid she'll get hurt. Their customer service people are very nice, but I really need this to work.

I made sure voltage on fence matched voltage of collar - 10 V, I removed the rubber tips to see if that increased shock value - it did not. While Invisible Fence collar is 2x's a much it works. Fortunately I found this out before my new puppy took off

    The Progressive collar is a good collar, for a timid dog. My Brittany pup is fast enough to get across the wire before it beeps. It appears to beep twice, then nick him gently, then zap him pretty good. Not what a strong-willed hunting dog needs. Perimeter Technologies graciously reprogrammed it, for free, to take out the delays and now, it is keeping him home.

    did not stop 7 yr old not neutered chocolate lab from run through. I'm not shaving his neck. We used out 800 sport collar and retrained him on that. if it has been a while since you have had your dog on a collar system then it is going to be somewhat challenging to retrain them again. used longer probes vs shorted didnt make a difference.
