Oh my gosh! I was so excited to see that they make bark collars that don't shock the dogs. I was very concerned about that and in the past, we've used a citronella collar to help my very anxious dog, Olive to stop barking. But she was too smart and realized that if she just barked a lot, it would drain the citronella from the cartridge and then she would be free to bark all the time! It got expensive replacing those cartridges.
So, I got this collar for her, I thought it was a good price and I had high hopes for this and this has EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS!!!!! If you are on the fence about this, get this bark collar! You won't regret it!
The collar is actually very long (but adjustable), so I was easily able to cut off the excess fabric. This fits my 12 lb pup perfectly, but since the collar can get so big, I'm sure a St. Bernard or another large dog will be able to benefit from it. Very easy to set up and adjust to fit her.
This collar has 7 settings. To test the collar, you blow into the hole located between the prongs. At first, you hear a bee[. I was expecting it to be more like a dog whistle (so hardly audible to human ears), but nope, it's a loud beep that's very clear to hear. So upon the first bark, the dog hears a beep. If the dog continues to bark, it will vibrate. THIS DOES NOT SHOCK THE DOG! IT VIBRATES LIKE A CELL PHONE but since dogs aren't used to that, mine didn't like it and it shuts her up right away. After the first vibration, my Olive will be quiet. But it can continue to up the ante (and have a louder sound for longer period of time along with stronger vibrations). But we haven't needed it.
I was so impressed today! She barks at leaves that blow and squirrels are her nemeses. She tries to climb the trees and fences to get to them and has a very high pitched and somewhat obnoxious bark. So I about fell over when I went in my backyard today and saw her staring up at a squirrel sitting in a tree above her. She was jumping at it but SILENT! I don't know if she barked even once and stopped, or since she's super smart, if she realized this collar means that it makes it uncomfortable to bark so it's not worth the bother to do so.
But either way, this is the best investment I've gotten for her. This is a dog that's high pitched screechy bark will make people cross the street when they see her and hear her (that's how bad it usually is), but this vibrating collar seemed to cure this!
I cannot wait to take her to our workout class tomorrow which is filled with triggers (out in the field where there are birds and squirrels everywhere) and other dogs. She usually barks the entire way there, a little during class, and the entire way home. I think finally she will be able to be quiet and just enjoy it!
If you are on the fence about this, please get it. I can't even describe the difference it has made in my life and it's made my little dog Olive much cuter to be around now that she's not screeching and barking at everything that moves. I hope this collar works for everyone who buys it!

This was ordered for our miniature pinscher mix who has an ear piercing yapping bark that will go on nonstop! We wanted a not too bulky and humane way to stop her nonstop barking when she goes outside. This definitely works! It makes a loud beep the first time she barks, then it will make another longer beep if she barks a second time within 30 seconds I believe, and if she barks a 3rd time she will get a longer beep and vibration buzz! She doesn't usually get to the buzzing part much because she doesnt like the noise. It's great, not too bulky or heavy, she weighs about 14lbs and it doesn't weigh down her neck at all. I'd recommend this collar!
